Pereira & O’Dell Shows the Power of Skype with ‘Stay Together’

The onion alert is in full effect. Skype has been promoting their global capabilities with a “Stay Together” campaign produced by Pereira & O’Dell, and the fourth video in the series, “The Born Friends Family Portrait,” is a smart showcase of the program’s utility. Two girls, Sarah from Indiana and Paige from Auckland, were both born without fully developed left arms and formed a long distance friendship over the years. Sarah and Paige are now teenagers, and as you can see in the accompanying clip, finally met in-person. It’s touching and respectfully filmed.

The three prior videos cover similar stories – a father talking to his family still in Africa, a zookeeper in America keeping tabs on an animal family in Australia, and a two young cousins (common theme) closing the gap between Brazil and America. We should probably expect more tearjerkers from Skype, because these are the kind of tales that sell themselves. No misdirection or exploitation, just a documentary setup that has the right kind of appeal. Credits after the jump.

Breaking: Creatives Can Be Just as ‘Douchey’ as Account Guys

Not only is David&Goliath senior art director Tim Delger moonlighting as a furniture designer, but he’s also taken a cue from the minds behind the “Douchey Account Guy” site to start up his own Tumblr destination, “Fucking Creatives.” According to one comment on the site, Delger, who joined D&G from GSD&M just over a year ago and is working on the Kia account, “just basically ripped off this idea from Douchey Account Guy.” No arguments here, but we’re glad at least that the scales are being balanced.

David & Goliath Welcomes Ex-GSD&M Duo

Fresh off of nabbing the CKE Restaurants biz, El Segundo, CA-based David&Goliath has added some new creatives to the fold, including two senior staffers to work on Kia. The shop announced that JC Abbruzzi (left) and Tim Delger have joined as senior copywriter and senior art director, respectively, on the automaker’s account and will report to ECD Colin Jeffery. Both new hires arrive from GSD&M, where they worked on various accounts including BMW, Goodyear and Southwest Airlines.

Also added to the D&G roster is digital copywriter Mark Habke, who will be coming aboard as a digital copywriter and will be tasked with penning copy for non-traditional media at the agency. Habke will report to digital creative director Bill Roden.
