Hauser Leaves CP+B

Crispin Porter + Bogusky creative director Tom Hauser is leaving the Boulder bunch after just over a year and heading back to his native Germany. Hauser was initially brought on in March 2011 as interactive ACD on the agency’s then-existing Burger King account as well as Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese and Jell-O. Most recently, he worked on projects for Coke Zero, namely the “Magnificent Monday” work in which the brand lobbied to make the day after the Super Bowl a national holiday.

We were forwarded a note that Hauser posted yesterday, which reads:

“Dear CP+B friends, today is my last day in the USA and I just wanted to thank all of you for the good times we had together…talking about the UN and all of my american colleagues, parking lot BBQs, agency allnighters, Pearl Street mayhems, sweaty hikes, crazy roadtrips and so much more stuff! It was a great honour meeting you guys. Rock on and Auf Wiedersehen! Tom”

No word on Hauser’s plans back in Germany, but prior to CP+B, he made the rounds in the local agency scene, working as a CD at the likes of Jung von Matt, Springer & Jacoby, Lukas Lindemann Rosinski and Grabarz & Partner.

CP+B, Coke Zero Lobby to Make Day after Super Bowl a National Holiday

Judging by the fact that millions of people have probably called in sick today (and millions more are probably just showing up to the office), we can’t say we disagree with a new Coke Zero campaign calling to make the day after Super Bowl Sunday a federal holiday dubbed, er, Magnificent Monday. Well, the name could use some tweaking, but we’re on board with this effort from CP+B. On the social media front, the beverage brand is asking the Twitterverse to log on and submit ideas on how to make this holiday happen using the hashtag #magmonday. We have faith that this could become reality in the coming years, folks, so let’s get to it already. Credits after the jump.

Cannes Brings Back 48-Hour Ad Contest

Just like last year, Cannes is announcing its 48-Hour ad contest for young creatives between 18 and 28. In just one week (May 13 to be exact), Cannes will release a creative brief for a charitable organization, and contestants have exactly two days to shoot, create and edit a video. Then, contestants must use their marketing prowess to make the video go viral. The winner will not only win a trip to Cannes from June 19-25, but also have their video entered into competition for a Cannes Young Lion.

Last year, the brief was for WaterAid, an organization that brings clean water to the eighth of the world’s population who don’t have access to it. One of the more memorable entries featured a guy somewhat literally talking out of his butt. Surely, you can make something just as good, right? Just wait for the brief over at Cannes’ YouTube page, which will arrive at midnight at May 13. Also, now might be the time to get in good with the judges, who include CP+B CD Tom Hauser, Ogilvy ECD Gerry Human and Momentum ECD Meera Sharath.

CP+B Adds Staff in Toronto, Boulder

While it continues to ramp up staff in L.A., Crispin Porter + Bogusky isn’t forgetting its other offices including Boulder HQ, where the agency has brought in Tom Hauser to serve as interactive ACD on its Burger King, Kraft Mac & Cheese and Jell-O accounts. Hauser arrives from Germany, where he served as a CD at shops including Jung von Matt. Though only having seven years’ worth of ad experience under his belt, Hauser has picked up 14 Cannes awards in three years among other industry accolades.

Meanwhile, in Toronto, the agency has appointed 180 Amsterdam alum Darren Richardson as creative technology director. During his time at 180, Richardson (pictured) held the executive creative technology director post and worked on Adidas and DHL, among other clients.  The new hire, who’s also had stints at R/GA and de-construct and picked up Cannes Gold along with a Webby during his career, wants to “continue pushing the boundaries of digital technology” in his new post. Godspeed.

Lavoie, Best to Head Up Select ADC Juries

Are you geared up for awards season yet? Well, whatever the case, the Art Directors Club has solidified its its 90th Awards juries with the additions of Taxi chairman/co-founder Paul Lavoie (pictured) and Wayne Best as Advertising and Hybrid chairs, respectively.

Best, if you best remember, left his ECD post at JWT last September to pursue a new “creative partnership,” which is a New York operation called Cog. Lavoie’s shop, of course, is now in the hands of Sir Marty and WPP. The Advertising and Hybrid categories have an entry deadline of Feb. 6. Check out the complete list of the aforementioned categories’ jurors, including Doner’s Rob Strasberg and W+K Amsterdam expat Jeff Kling, after the jump.
