Vince Gilligan needs no introduction, but he is new to the advertising game as of yesterday. The director–currently working on “Breaking Bad” spinoff “Better Call Saul”–signed with L.A./New York production company Interrogate.
No word on whether he will reveal alternate endings to the spots he directs.
Icelandic director Snorri Sturluson signed with production company Recommend (RECO). The philosophy major began his career as a band photographer before moving into music videos and art direction, eventually helming spots for Comcast, Mercedes, UGG, Nokia and more.
In a West Coast first, Sturluson also “enjoys writing movie scripts” in his spare time.
Jeremiah Zagar, founder of Brooklyn production company Public Record, has been selected for the 2014 Sundance Institute Directors Lab, an “immersive, month-long series of workshops, courses and exercises for rising stars” that recruits approximately a dozen directors each year.
Since its founding in 2012, Public Record has created spots for brands ranging from Deloitte to Keurig and New Balance; its most recent campaign includes three spots for GE Capital and BBDO New York.
A video director who has worked with some of pop music’s biggest artists (Bruno Mars, Mariah Carey, Usher, etc.), Larder has also directed several spots for top agencies.
Recent spots by Larder include Volkswagen for Deutsch, Disney for its own Yellow Shoes Creative Group and “American Idol”/Ford with Team Detroit.
