About the Position
Safety Net Hospitals for Pharmaceutical Access (SNHPA), which represents nearly 1,000 hospitals and health systems enrolled in the federal 340B drug discount program, seeks an experienced Staff Writer/Social Media Producer for its Drug Discount Monitor news service (drugdiscountmonitor.com), SNHPA's website and social media ventures, and SNHPA internal and external communications.
Your main duty will be writing articles for the Monitor. It is the only publication that covers the 340B program closely and is widely read by health care and drug industry insiders. You also will write for a separate SNHPA members-only newsletter and SNHPA's soon-to-be-redesigned website (www.snhpa.org) and will help us pioneer our first forays into social media.
You will write and/or edit news releases, policy briefs, advocacy/marketing/advertising copy and other SNHPA communications. You might be asked to help others with op-eds, presentations, and letters. Travel will be limited.
The Staff Writer/Social Media Producer will report to and work closely with the Monitor's Executive Editor and SNHPA's Senior Director of Communications.
Qualifications
You must have at least a bachelor's degree and a strong background in journalism. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience writing and/or editing for a health care or pharmaceutical trade publication or a similar venture. Familiarity with federal drug pricing policy, Capitol Hill, and legal/regulatory affairs would be a big plus. Experience with Web design, WordPress, social media, and desktop publishing preferred. Salary commensurate with experience. Full benefits package. Must relocate to D.C.
