||Publishing Services is seeking a talented, professional, senior software engineer who is well versed in the Java/J2EE tech stacks to work for a company just recently ranked as number three in the top places to work in Baltimore.
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 4+ years of experience, working in a dynamic and fast paced environment on team to develop web based software solutions. The candidate must be able to demonstrate previous work experience, including the skills and considerations listed below.
The candidate must be team oriented, display excellent communication skills, (both written and verbal) and ultimately be willing to grow as a developer and as an individual.
Core java must be VERY solid. Understanding must be both practical/applied and conceptual.
Should have a strong working knowledge of the Collections API.
Should have a working knowledge of the Messaging API.
Intimate familiarity with the concept of persistence and persistent state within an application.
Strong understanding and demonstrable working knowledge of data access methods and APIs.
Well-versed in the design of RDBs, including best practices with regard to performance.
Understanding of Hibernate transactions and transaction configuration.
Demonstrated practical knowledge of Spring context, beans, properties and schemas.
Experience in building Spring-driven applications.
Experience with Spring MVC and spring transaction management.
Working knowledge of JBOSS support and configuration a plus.
Working knowledge of Tomcat support and configuration.
Should have at minimum intermediate level proficiency with UNIX/linux.
Should be technically familiar with a variety of databases.
Experience with MS-SQL Server, MySQL desirable. Postgres a plus.
Understanding of tuning queries for performance desirable.
Design patterns, Architecture & Misc
We’re interested in MVC, Singleton, Factory, Annotation, and Testing-Driven Development.
Understanding of user interface and front end technologies is desirable but not required.
The candidate must be a problem solver, and demonstrate a method of thinking acquired from years of problem-solving experience in the field. There is no concrete criteria for this, but we’ll know from interviewing them. The candidate must also have a meticulous eye for code, as they will be expected to mentor and oversee junior to mid developers. Should be an active coder in his day-to-day career with an enthusiasm for technology with development in particular.
