Yesterday we took a look at the ten most retweeted Twitter tweets of all time in a list that was headed by Canadian pop music megastar Justin Bieber.
Well, his record didn’t last long, as a tweet sent on Wednesday has received over 200,000 retweets – and counting – and is now far and away Twitter’s most retweeted post. It’s also by Justin Bieber. And it will break your heart.
Avalanna Routh, the 6-year old girl who made worldwide headlines following her “marriage” to Bieber, passed on Wednesday, with her death has raising awareness of a rare but aggressive form of childhood cancer.
Following her passing, Bieber’s simple “RIP Avalanna. i love you” tweet trended globally, and has now been retweeted more than 200,000 times, making it Twitter’s biggest-ever retweet.
RIP Avalanna. i love you

Whatever you think of Bieber, this is powerful, moving stuff. And while the most retweeted list might not be chock-full of the sort of inspirational, world-changing tweets that has made Twitter a force to be reckoned with, and that you might have hoped for, it would take a very cynical person to argue that Bieber’s tribute to Avalanna isn’t a worthy number one.
