Taking A Deeper Dive Into Twitter Ad Targeting

Since launching its advertising platform three years ago, Twitter evolved its offerings at a staggering pace. Due to the lack of data it requires users to provide, Twitter may lag behind Facebook in demographic targeting, but has and will continue to use its real-time nature as a key differentiator from competitors in the social media advertising space.

Here’s a quick refresher on the targeting options Twitter currently offers for its Promoted Tweets products:

Or check Twitter during extreme weather to get the latest updates?

Twitter (and The Weather Channel) are counting on it. And they’ve devised a way to cash in, while giving advertisers more targeted bang for their buck.

Let’s just hope they’ve thought it through!

Tweets Increase Brand Purchases And Twitter’s Updated Ad Center Helps Track It

Did you know that shoppers exposed to brand tweets are more likely to visit brand sites? They’re also more likely to consider that brand when they’re ready to buy and – guess what? They’re also more likely to make a purchase.

That’s all according to a study recently performed (and just published) by Twitter (more on THAT below).

And fortunately, this all coincides with Twitter’s updated ad center so you can better track the potential shoppers that are exposed to your marvelousness.

Promoted Trends Now Cost $200k. Is The Return On Investment Worth It?

It wasn’t too long ago that promoted trends would run you around $100-$120k. And when they initially came out, you could snag one for a mere $70-$80k!

But not anymore. If you want a promoted trend these days, be prepared to fork over $200k.

Does that sound like something for only the “cash crazy” to consider? Maybe . . . or maybe it’s an investment you can’t afford NOT to make.

Why Promoting Your Account Is A Better Idea Than Buying Followers

If you’ve ever considered purchasing a bulk order of followers to beef up your Twitter presence, we have another alternative for your to consider: promoting your account.

Why consider this? Outside of being laughed out of the virtual room once your account’s “Fake Followers” are exposed, promoting your account won’t put your Twitter in jeopardy if you get caught.

Promoted Tweets Can Now Target Trending Topics

Some days, Twitter’s trending topics provide a snapshot of what’s wrong with the world, like when #smackthatass or something similar trends. It takes a LOT of participants for it to trend.

But for the most part, Twitter trends track the pulse of the Web. And now advertisers can tap into that phenomenon – and it doesn’t get better than that!

Is This Twitter’s (Lame) Attempt At Providing Analytics?

Are Twitter’s Mobile Ads Worthless?

Mobile ads are all the rage these days. Companies are jumping on the chance to target their consumers while they’re out in the world, refining the who, when, and where of serving ads in greater detail than ever before.

But new stats might make these marketers rethink their mobile strategy: up to 40 percent of mobile ad clicks are worthless.

With New 1 Cent Ad Prices, Twitter’s On Track To Earn $350M This Year

Yesterday Twitter launched interest-based targeting for their advertising products, allowing brands and marketers to target users based on the content of the tweets they send and the accounts they follow.

Along with this announcement came a somewhat overlooked fact: Twitter is lowering their minimum ad bid from 50 cents to just one penny. And some analysts believe this move could bump up their yearly ad earnings significantly.
