Twitter has reached its sixth birthday, and to celebrate Twitter-fan Jimmy Kimmel asked some of his celebrity pals to read some of the meanest and (in some cases) really quite offensive tweets that have been sent to them by “fans”, while, for full effect, REM’s Everybody Hurts plays along in the background.
The list of famous faces includes Louis CK (“You are a big pricky”), Jason Bateman (who one fan alleges is gay), Anna Faris (change the ‘i’ in her surname to a ‘t’ and watch hilarity ensue) and Andy Dick, who probably gets it worse than anybody.
Check the video below for the full round-up. It’s laugh-out-loud funny in parts, but also a good reminder that as Twitter grows it increasingly becomes a mirror of the ‘real world’, which means we can all look forward to an ever-increasing supply of nastiness, bad humour and good, old-fashioned weirdos. Enjoy.
