8 Million Americans Found Their Current Job On Twitter [INFOGRAPHIC]

A heady 8 million Americans say that they used Twitter to find their current job.

That number is impressive enough, but it pales in comparison to LinkedIn, where 10.2 million Americans say that they found work, and especially Facebook, which accounted for a staggering 18.4 million of successful hires.

In fact, according to this data, an eyebrow-raising 36,600,000 Americans used social media to find work, representing about 16 percent of the adult population.

5 Companies That Are Rocking Social Media [INFOGRAPHIC]

The benefits of using platforms such as Twitter and Facebook in marketing campaigns for businesses of all sizes are well established, but putting that into practice takes knowledge and experience, as well as effort, dedication, and, most importantly, time.

Success in social media isn’t something that happens overnight. As the old adage says, it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and organizations looking for shortcuts and (especially) advice from self-pronounced gurus are often left scratching their heads in bewilderment.

The World Of Social Media [VIDEOGRAPHIC]

Sometimes it seems that every time you look social media has set another benchmark.

For example, while you may know that Facebook has passed Google as the most-visited website on the internet, were you aware that there are now more Facebook users than motor vehicles?

Did you know that Twitter’s tweets per second record (TPS) is 8,900 tweets, set when Beyonce Knowles made her pregnancy announcement at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards?

And had you heard that last year YouTube registered 700 billion video playbacks?

This and more can be found in this videographic from the appropriately-named Video Infographs.

But just how did all of those Black Friday commercials influence shoppers?

Visible Technologies explored the consumer response on Twitter to the barrage of Black Friday advertising last week, and discovered that not all jingles are created equal – especially when one is modeled after a certain Ms. Black’s song extolling the virtues of Friday, Friday…

Is It Crazy For Parents To Choose A Unique Baby Name Just For The Twitter Handle?

When it comes to Twitter handles, @JohnSmith and @JaneSmith are obviously taken. So if you’re a brand new parent-to-be and you’re stuck with the common surname “Smith”, you’ve got to get pretty creative with your baby’s first name if you want him or her to grow up with a unique social footprint. But is that really something you should be thinking about between Lamaze classes?

Why Scarlett Johansson Doesn’t Use (Or Get) Twitter

One of the bigger catalysts behind the huge boom in social media growth over the past few years has been the way that celebrities from all around the world (in a myriad of shapes and sizes) have embraced these platforms, using them as a way to keep fans informed of their current projects and news.

Rewind back just a couple of years and Twitter was dominated by people like Stephen Fry and Wil Wheaton, who boasted a heady 208,750 and 109,406 followers respectively in February 2009. These guys were famous, sure, but it was very much in a nerdy, geek crowd kind of way (they’d be the first to admit that they’re geeks themselves). As Twitter started to penetrate the mainstream media and public consciousness, more famous (and less geeky) names from movies, TV and music began to sign up, and now the biggest superstars on the planet can be found avidly tweeting away.

But not every celebrity has expressed an interest. Often it’s for legitimate reasons. But other times, and certainly in Scarlett Johansson’s case, it’s simply good, old-fashioned naivety.

continued…

However, the number of followers you have doesn’t usually matter as much as the quality of followers you have, especially if you use Twitter for business.

Here are three tips you can use to revamp your Twitter bio – that tiny 160-character blurb that can be the difference between followers who ignore you and those who click every link you send their way.

How The Top 15 Construction Companies In The UK Use Twitter [INFOGRAPHIC]

It can’t be easy being a construction company trying to harness social media.
