The Kenneth Cole Label Is Creating Another PR Nightmare For Itself On Twitter

Remember the Kenneth Cole PR fiasco when he tweeted about the uprising in Cairo last year, using the trending hashtag to promote his spring line? Well, Kenneth Cole label is at it again! At least this time the offending posts aren’t personally from KC . . . but will they hurt his company any less?

How Does Social Media Affect Website Search Rankings? [INFOGRAPHIC]

If you run a website, you know how important search engine rankings can be. Getting your site on the first page of Google can bring in advertising dollars, an influx of new customers, or widespread awareness of your cause.

However, there is much more to ranking high on Google than just optimizing your website for certain keywords. Social media can help (or hurt!) your placement – and the folks at TastyPlacement have done a little testing to see how much Google+, Facebook and Twitter really do affect search results.

Pinterest Outperforms Twitter, Facebook For Purchase Power [INFOGRAPHIC]

Is Pinterest here to stay?

Perhaps. Certainly, the evidence is mounting that the pinboarding network of choice is making a big dent in the social space. Studies have shown that users spend more time on Pinterest than on Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ combined, and new data reveals that the (ahem) interest in Pinterest is now so strong that the platform is outperforming both Twitter and Facebook for click-through revenue.

Is it time to start buying into all that hype?

Twitter encourages its employees to try new things around the company and work on projects they’re passionate about. Very cool.

This time around, some teams focused on learning coding and the result was another pretty hilarious video.

One Simple Tip For #FollowFriday Success

Follow Friday has been a Twitter phenomenon for years. People tweet out the usernames of other Twitter users that they think are worth following, in a way to give recognition to those sending out useful, funny, cool, interesting, insightful or otherwise stand-out tweets.

However, many people are misusing the #FollowFriday and #FF hashtags, and not getting the most out of Follow Friday. Here’s the one tip you need to follow if you want to participate effectively – and it will only take about 30 seconds to implement.

Twitter, Real Relationships And Phony Followers

Let me ask you a question. On Twitter, which of these is more important to you: getting a reply from somebody, or having them follow you back?

Most people would go with the latter, but it’s fundamentally wrong. And here’s why. Twitter is an open, public network. The reply mechanism works just as well whether I’m following you, you’re following me, or neither of us are following each other. A reciprocal follow is just a +1. Nothing more. The follow doesn’t make a lick of difference to the quality of the relationship.

Indeed, a follow, in and of itself, is essentially worthless.

Why Twitter Is A Game Changer For Pro Sports [INFOGRAPHIC]

We’ve previously documented the impact that social media has made on the world of sport, notably in the way that it has allowed fans to engage with sporting organisations, teams and athletes, and vice versa.

The numbers are adding up: according to recent data, some 83 percent of sports fans check sports social media outposts while watching the game on television, and 63 percent will browse these channels while they’re actually in attendance.
