Business ladies love Twitter, you know that, right? Well, if you didn’t know it before, you know it now.
So pass this chat info along to your favorite young female entrepreneur and she’ll thank you, trust me. But one caveat: Make sure she’s in her 20s or 30s – early 30s – as this chat is not for the olds. “Old” person lament to follow.
When I saw the Young Female Entrepreneur Twitter chat pop up on my screen, I was excited. As a person with more websites than birthdays (not really, but close) and a couple of DBAs to my name as well, a chat for young female entrepreneurs sounded GREAT. And then I looked at the Twitter description and got a little worried:
Hmm. 20s or 30s? Well, that’s okay. I ‘ll just be one of the oldest people there. I have a few months yet till I hit 40. And 40 is the new 30 anyway, everyone knows THAT.
But then I checked out the YFE website for more info:
Young Female Entrepreneurs is an online platform that helps entrepreneurial women in their 20s discover new people, brands, and headlines that will help them start and grow their businesses. The YFE mission is to help young women on their path to profitable businesses while building a collective reputation that is philanthropic, successful, multi-faceted, and collaborative.
YFE moderates biweekly Twitter Chats, web conferences, hosts a live stream and publishes a healthy blog and Podcast profiling the women within our community. To be a “member” all YFE asks is that you show up, are in your 20s or early 30s and are on the path to owning your own business.
Looks fantastic, doesn’t it? But early 30s? Drat. I wonder if they check IDs? I imagine they gently, and in hushed tones, direct the ancient ones to join the Red Hat Society or AARP or to just go die. Sorry, that was me being bitter.
It does look like a great place to network though, so you should definitely check it out (unless you’re 35+). Yes, I realize I’ve beaten this horse to death. Just sending one final “double-tap” kick in the ribs for good measure.
The #YFEchat, which CNN will be co-hosting, takes place this Friday, September 28 at 8pm PDT. And the question these young ladies will be exploring is this: ”Are women starting to outperform men at work because of their willingness to adapt?”
Well, I know one thing they’re not adapting to very well . . . collaborating with the olds. Mumble grumble.
Will you be tuning in? Kidding aside – you should join in if you can.
