Following a somewhat lacklustre initial takeup, social media usage is very much on the rise in Germany, with all the top networks representing themselves well, albeit to different degrees.
Indeed, a recent study by researchers at Tomorrow Focus Media revealed that 82.7 percent of Germany internet users are now active on Facebook, placing the social network far ahead of second-placed YouTube (51.8 percent), Google+ (27.8 percent) and Twitter, which is favoured by slightly more than one in five users (21.9 percent).
Twitter’s number might seem low, but just 16 percent of U.S. adults use Twitter, so, population differences aside, it’s faring quite well in Germany.
