History Unveils 'JFK Twitter Takeover' As 50th Anniversary Approaches

This Friday marks the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s public assassination, and History is commemorating the tragic event by tweeting the President’s final days leading up to the shooting.

Called “JFK Twitter Takeover,” this initiative is hosted on History’s official Twitter account, which you can follow here.

Throughout the week, the account will tweet about the last week in President Kennedy’s life, leading up to this Friday. Tweets in the series are using the hashtag #JFK50. The hashtag is already seeing several thousand tweets per day, which is expected to increase as we draw closer to the day of the shooting.

In addition to text-based updates, the account will be tweeting historical documents and photos, as well as links to articles with more in-depth coverage, to add richness to the subject.

Friday November 22nd marks the actual anniversary of the shooting, and will feature Twitter coverage of how the event occurred alongside JFK and Lee Harvey Oswald specials on the History channel.
