Mark Luckie: Don’t Be Another ‘Social Media Guru’

For Mark Luckie, manager of journalism and news at Twitter, landing a social media job requires more than just knowing how to tweet or post a status update. In his interview with Mediabistro, Luckie shares advice to social media job seekers, telling them to show off their skills in a portfolio.

“Talk the talk and walk the walk. Have some really great engaging social media profiles. Some people say ‘I’m a social media guru;’ then, you look at their Twitter feed and it’s just a bunch of links,” he said. “So, it’s really about showing ‘What’s different about me? What am I doing on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram? How am I using the ecosystem of social media to really propel my message or the message of others?’”
