Way, way back in the heady days of April, 2013, spoken word poet and hip hop artist Scroobius Pip made a very bold promise on Twitter.
“If I ever reach 100k followers,” he wrote. “I’m gonna arrange drinks in a pub with y’all. Remind me if I forget. It may take a while…”
If I ever reach 100k followers I'm gonna arrange drinks in a pub with y'all. Remind me if I forget. It may take a while…haha.

Back then, @Scroobiuspipyo had a mere 79,000 followers on his Twitter profile. Fast-forward 16 months later, and the deed is done – on August 14, 2014, Scroobius Pip hit the magic 100K, and, incredibly, he’s staying true to his word.
This tweet was in April 2013. Well look what's gone and happened… Thanks for all the love! I'm out… http://t.co/B42zuWLToP

The tweet links to Scroobius Pip’s Facebook Page, where he updated fans with this longer message.
“I’m out of the country right now but, when I’m back I will stay true to my word and arrange a night where I will go to a specific pub (probably London) and buy one drink for however many of you turn up. In fact, if you own or work in a pub that might be a good location for this then hit me up. Feel free to give me a nice guy discount…”
As one commenter noted: this could go viral, and badly. Let’s hope Scroobius has very deep pockets.
