Way back in May 2011 – many, many moons ago in Twitter years – Lady Gaga became the first Twitter user to reach 10 million followers. Since then, she’s been joined by a number of other media luminaries, including such stalwarts as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Shakira, Barack Obama and Kim Kardashian.
Since our last update, five new users have gained entry into Twitter’s 10 million club: Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Jennifer Lopez and Pink, which brings this very exclusive membership to a total of twenty-four.
Music megastar Lady Gaga has become the first Twitter user to reach 20 million followers on the network, setting the record this past Saturday, March 3.
Gaga was also the first Twitter user to reach 10 and 15 million followers, and accumulated her latest million, whom she refers to as her Little Monsters, in just 23 days.
Selena Gomez has became the tenth and latest Twitter user to reach 10 million followers, passing the total yesterday.

In doing so he becomes the third Twitter user to pass the lofty target, following in the footsteps of such luminaries as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
Last month I wrote about how Justin Bieber had become the second Twitter user to reach 9 million followers, with Lady Gaga being the first.
I speculated on which of them would be the first to reach 10 million. Gaga had the lead, but Bieber was closing in fast. I suggested Gaga might hit the mark around May 23-24, but she’s beaten me – and Bieber – to the punch, as she’s now officially the first and founding member of Twitter’s 10 Million Club.
Justin Bieber’s rise on Twitter is pretty remarkable. In just over two years, he’s leveraged the network to build a profile that has taken him from a complete unknown to arguably the most famous teenager in the world, and certainly the US.
However, in the wide, wide world of celebrity, Bieber is still a little short of the megastardom that the likes of Beyoncé Knowles, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Oprah Winfrey and Rihanna enjoy, and none of these can hold a candle to the column-inch all-consuming powerhouse that is Lady Gaga.
Except, that is, on Twitter, where Bieber and his teenybopper army owns every single one of them except for Gaga herself… and they’re closing in on her fast.
