Why This Will Be The Election That Breaks Twitter (But Not In The Way That You Think)

Buzzfeed has an interesting look at how the U.S. Presidential Election will impact Twitter, inasmuch as the inevitable influx of tweets from all quarters of the planet announcing and analysing every single aspect of the election will, for all intents and purposes, leave Twitter largely impotent and (dare I say it) useless for anyone who isn’t interested in announcing and analysing every single aspect of the election.

The person that America decides to elect as President is and should be important to everybody – not just folks in the USA. But what should matter and what does matter rarely goes hand-in-hand, and suffice to say for every tweet proactively reporting about the election, there will be another tweet complaining about the coverage (or about Twitter’s coverage specifically, which is when it all gets very meta).

Bottom line: Twitter is going to be busy. Very busy. Will it stand up to the strain?

Obama Vs Romney – Whose Tweets Are Getting The Most Engagement On Twitter (And Where)? [MAP]

Twitter has been very hands-on in the run-up to the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election, and both President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney have (wisely) been heavily using the micro-blogging platform to share their agenda and policies, raise awareness of where they are on the campaign trail and, perhaps, nudge those all-important undecided voters firmly in their direction.

With the election outcome now just days away, Twitter’s Political Index has President Obama firmly in the lead. But which of the candidates’ respective tweets have been getting the most engagement?

Digital media is playing a huge role for both President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney in their respective election campaigns, but which candidate’s videos are getting the most shares across Facebook, Twitter and blogs?

Obama Vs Romney: Who Is The Real Commander In Tweet? [INFOGRAPHIC]

We’re just a few short weeks away from the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election, and suddenly it’s all getting very serious indeed.

On Wednesday (Oct. 3), President Barack Obama debated with Republican nominee Mitt Romney at the University of Denver, trading barbed remarks and facts (or “facts”, as some pundits have suggested of Romney) in a heated contest that could decide the next occupant of the Oval Office. But who won? How did Twitter react? What’s the word from the peanut gallery?

Obama Vs Romney – A Social Slugfest [INFOGRAPHIC]

We’re just a few weeks away from the 2012 U.S. presidential elections, and social media has played an enormously important role in what is arguably the first time a digital election strategy has been employed by both candidates.

Did you know that, on average, President Barack Obama’s Twitter followers grow three times faster than his Facebook fans? Or that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s engagement rate is eighteen times higher on Facebook than on Twitter?

Obama VS Romney – The Social Media Showdown For Your Vote For President Of The USA [INFOGRAPHIC]

The 2012 United States Presidential Election is now just a little over 10 weeks away and, looking at the latest polls, President Barack Obama is still locked in a very tight race with Republican Mitt Romney, with 47 percent of registered users saying they’ll back Obama, and 46 percent saying Romney.

It’s really too close to call. Still, one area where the President has consistently trounced his rival is social media. Whether it’s Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or even Instagram, Obama is number one.

Obama Leads Romney In Social Media Activity, Response (But Neither Engage Much With Voters) [STUDY]

Obama vs Romney – Who Wins On Twitter? [INFOGRAPHIC]

Did you know that almost fifty per cent of President Barack Obama’s Twitter followers live outside the USA?

When you consider that the President has almost 16 million members of his Twitter entourage, that’s a pretty amazing statistic. Especially when held up alongside the wildly contrasting Twitter presence of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney – some 90 percent of his half-a-million strong Twitter roster is made up of folks who live in the U.S.
