It’s #PositiveTwitterDay Today: Will You Participate?

Did you know that today is #PositiveTwitterDay? In an effort to get a little camaraderie going on the 140-character network, a group of people are sending out messages of positivity in each tweet – and, like any online movement these days, a group of detractors are trolling.

The Happiest City In Canada Is… [INFOGRAPHIC]

Is it better to live in Vancouver or Toronto? Halifax or Montreal? Well, if Twitter is any indication, there is a clear winner among Canadian cities vying for top spot – at least in terms of how happy their residents are, which I think is a pretty good measure of which city is “best”.

Why Was Twitter So Obsessed With #Earthquake East? [STATS]

The earthquake that hit the East Coast just before 2pm ET on August 23 might have caused little damage, but it kicked up quite the storm on Twitter.

Within one minute of the earthquake hitting Virginia, Twitter saw 40,000 earthquake-related tweets, and at their peak earthquake tweets reached 5,000 tweets-per-second – more than Osama bin Laden’s death and on par with the earthquake in Japan.

So with all of the mind-boggling stats coming out of this relatively harmless geological event, one question remains: why were Twitter users so obsessed with this particular earthquake?
