When a client speaks with an ad agency about setting up a campaign, they naturally expect that agency to know their way around Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media. And while the agency might have this know-how, new stats show that they didn’t glean it from practicing on their own brand: a paltry few agencies actually use Twitter or Facebook to advertise their own company.
Twitter ranks well below most other social networks in terms of web performance, according to new numbers from SmartBear’s AlertSite.
However, given the massive amount of traffic that Twitter has seen in recent months compared to a few years ago, the site does manage to come close to industry standards – and the fail whale is just a thing of the past.
During talks with Twitter, Facebook and RIM today in response to the riots earlier this month, the UK government backed down on plans to block social networks should another riot occur.
