This infographic by EdWeek covers trends and developments in the use of technology among students, teachers, and administrators.

For example, 34% of teens own a tablet (nice parents). And an incredible 93% of school districts have one or more online classes approved for credit.

Undergraduate Students And Technology [INFOGRAPHIC]

Here on AllTwitter, we’ve cited numerous studies and infographics that demonstrate how integral technology is in students’ lives.

Specifically for undergraduates, technology – most definitely including social media – is a critical part of learning, communication, and engagement.

Check out the infographic below for some interesting stats on the relationship between undergrads and tech.

A few that jumped out to us:

-86% of undergrads own a laptop
-76% of undergrads use Windows, vs. 21% Apple
-31% said that in 2012 they took a class completely online
-2012 saw an 18% increase over 2011 in students’ use of Twitter as an academic resource

The Business School Twitter Application Is No Longer

After two years, the University of Iowa business school’s headline-making “application tweet” contest has seen its last days.

Back in summer 2011, the Tippie School of Management announced a pilot program asking applicants to explain, via one tweet, why they would be a good Tipple candidate and future MBA hire.

The initiative was a success, and the school made it a formal part of the application process as of last year. Students could either write a second essay, or write a thought-provoking tweet. Those who chose the “twessay” were entered into a contest for a full-tuition Tippie scholarship.

ESPN: College Basketball Players Disgruntled With Twitter As They Gain Notoriety

ESPN recently published a post about college basketball players’ increasing disgruntlement with Twitter, specifically that it’s “less fun” in college.

Why? Because the older the players get and the more they’re on the national radar, the higher the standards are for their public image, a large part of which is the content they’re presenting to the world via social media.

Kids today, eh? They don’t know they’re even born. When I were a lad we had to walk five miles up a hill (both ways) to a school that was always on the verge of falling apart. Inside, forty of us would crowd around a desk, sharing one pencil and re-using yesterday’s scrap paper, while a 90-year old teacher angrily waved a cane while talking about trigonometry.

And that was during P.E.
