The History Of The Internet (1969-2012) [INFOGRAPHIC]

How long have you been using the internet?

If you’re a person of a certain age – that is, depressingly young – it’s highly likely you’ve never known a world without the web. While the origins of the internet can be traced back to 1969, it wasn’t until the 1990s and the launch of the first proper browser that the medium really started to take off, with Yahoo!, Google, e-commerce and the birth of social media each playing a hugely important role en route to the present day, when it’s almost impossible to imagine a life without these tools.

60% Of People Find Tech Stressful (But Social Media Annoys Less Than 1 In 10) [STUDY]

Technology was, of course, supposed to make our lives easier. And it has, in many ways – certainly nobody wants to go back to a time before washing machines, ovens, refrigerators and air conditioning.

But what about modern tech? Well, according to a new study, six out of ten people believe find technology stressful, and just 15.7 percent say that they aren’t stressed by technology at all.

The Past, Present And Future Of Personal Tech [INFOGRAPHIC]

Did you know that while more than two billion people are privileged enough to live in a location that affords them the technological resources to access the internet, this represents less than a third of the global population?

So what happens when everybody gets online?

It’s a sentiment that hasn’t gone unnoticed. In his 2012 address to the Mobile World Congress, Google’s Eric Schmidt proposed this very notion. “For most people the digital revolution has not arrived yet,” he said. “Every revolution begins with a small group of people. Imagine how much better it would be with another five billion people online.”
