Twitter Rolls Out An Updated TweetDeck

Following TweetDeck founder Iain Dodsworth’s departure from Twitter, the social giant has given TweetDeck a web-based refresh.

The writing was definitely in the Twitter Cards, as Twitter’s shuttering of TweetDeck’s mobile apps indicated its interest in focusing on the TweetDeck web experience.

Read on for a run-through of the new TweetDeck features and aesthetic.

Twitter Sent Official TweetDeck Closure Letter After Failing To File Business Accounts

Because of the delay the company was fined a total of £750.

Well, things have taken a turn for the worse as Twitter have now been sent a letter by regulators warning of TweetDeck’s impending closure.

Twitter Favourite TweetDeck Risks Closure After Failing To File Business Accounts

Last week Twitter UK unveiled first-year profits of £16,500, which covered the British subsidiary of Twitter, Inc’s first seven months of existence between June 1, 2011, and December 31, 2011.

One problem: Twitter UK was late with the filings, which means they’ll likely have to pay a fine. Assuming they cough up, no real damage done.

But another UK Twitter company is now so late with their business accounts that they risk being struck off entirely. And that company is TweetDeck.

Dear Twitter: Please Put TweetDeck Out Of Its Misery And Kill It Off For Good

As one of the first platforms to support configurable columns, TweetDeck quickly established itself as the de facto standard for power-browsing on Twitter, and this continued for years.

Right up until Twitter bought it.

Some acquisitions, like TweetDeck, made a huge splash in the Twitter-related news-sphere, while others were more quietly done.

Well, it got us thinking about applications that we allow to access our data and the reality that “online privacy” really is an oxymoron.

Twitter-Owned TweetDeck Kills Off Deck.ly, Users Can No Longer Send Messages Longer Than 140 Characters

It’s taken a while, but Twitter has finally focused its attention on not-so-recently purchased TweetDeck. And it’s attention comes in the form of an axe.

The first feature to get chopped from TweetDeck is its deck.ly app, which enabled users to tweet things longer than 140 characters by redirecting those interested in reading the extended post to a separate web page.
