@YouTube remains the top, most-followed brand on Twitter, with its more than 35 million followers placing it well ahead of all other brands, including the official @Twitter profile.

Social media companies continue to dominate all brands on Twitter, with six entries in the top ten, including @Facebook, which is very much on the ascent, and now ranks 6th overall amongst Twitter brands. Look for @Facebook to break into the top five soon, perhaps as early as next month.
In less than a decade Twitter has revolutionised the way that brands and businesses target, engage and liaise with customers in almost every industry and region around the world, and Latin America is no exception.
97 percent of the world’s largest brands used Twitter in 2013, tweeting on average 30 times per week, predominately for broadcasting and engagement purposes, reveals a new study from social media monitoring company Brandwatch.
The survey analysed 253 top brands from the U.S. and the UK, monitoring the type and frequency of activity, why brands are using Twitter, which tools they’re using and the size of their social teams.

Yep. The official @Twitter account is only the third most-followed brand on its own social platform, and twelfth amongst all profiles, with a whisker over 21 million followers. However, combined with @twitter_es, the official Spanish Twitter profile, and its 12.6 million followers, it would rank first overall.
YouTube continues to reign supreme as the top brand on Twitter, with its close-to 28 million followers enough for sixth place overall amongst all profiles on the micro-blogging social network, and more than seven million ahead of second-placed Instagram amongst brands.
What is Twitter?
Well, according to the company themselves, it’s “… an open, real-time platform that instantly connects people with what’s most meaningful to them. We often say that Twitter is the shortest distance between you and what interests you most.”
Quite. Twitter wants businesses of all shapes and sizes to “have the opportunity to be part of the conversation and surface their messages to the people that matter most”, and to expedite this process they’ve launched a new (free) real-time planning book for brands that you can download now as a PDF.
YouTube continues to reign supreme as the top brand on Twitter by total number of followers, placing well ahead of even Twitter themselves. In fact, Twitter isn’t even second – since we last updated, Instagram has leap-frogged above its social media rival into the second spot amongst all brands on Twitter.
