And the six-second video maker just released an update that demonstrates its complete ninja-like mastery of this knowledge. Yep, this feature is going to make you stop and try Vine right this second, if you haven’t already. Even savvy businesses will love this new ability because it just makes too much sense: The ability to shoot front-facing videos.

Can you hear the people practicing in front of their phones right now? Because they are.

Tribeca Film Festival Releases 40 Vine Finalists In Its #6SecFilms Contest

Following on the heels of the Shorty Awards’ involvement of Vines comes the Tribeca Film Festival’s official stamp of approval for these uber-popular 6-second video loops.

The film fest this year challenged people to use Twitter’s Vine app to create 6-second films — with a “beginning, middle and end” — for a special #6SecFilms contest.

And the 40 finalists have been released.

Over the past five years, the Shorty Awards (honoring the best in social media) have added new categories to their list, with the introduction of widely used social media platforms and tools. The newest categories for the fifth annual awards ceremony taking place on April 8 in New York City, include Pinterest Brand Presence and Animated GIF of the Year.

Perhaps the sixth annual event will honor the best use of Vine (Twitter’s six-second video app), which exploded onto the social media scene earlier this year as a free iOS app available for iPhone.

Twitter Casts Video Services Out Into The Cold, Dark Web

Twitter announced some updates to its app on its blog today. The updated features make using Twitter faster and easier – with nifty little bits of awesomeness to boot (read that post to learn more).

The blog didn’t share another piece of news about the update though, one that can be found on the iTunes page: Twitter has cast video services Mobypicture and Vodpod out into the cold, dark Web to fend for themselves (or just, you know, upload their videos somewhere else).

Fortunately, Twitter isn’t something the general public will be using with any regularity five years from now, so maybe they can go live with LinkedIn or something.
