Ever get so mad about the current state of the U.S. that you just want to kill? We hope not.
But if you ever DO get that angry, understand that threatening to harm the president is just as illegal on Twitter as it is anywhere else. This appears to be news to one Alabama man.
The Washington Post reports that “twenty-five-year-old Jarvis Britton was charged Wednesday with knowingly threatening the life of the president. . . . [and a] federal grand jury has indicted [him] on charges that he threatened the life of President Barack Obama on Twitter.”
What did he say? All kinds of crazy, according to Fox.
Britton first began tweeting threats against Obama in late June, allegedly saying, “Free speech? Really? Let’s test this! Let’s kill the president!”
After he tweeted a few other threatening messages, a Secret Service agent interviewed Britton in June and made him aware of the seriousness of the situation but did not take any further action.
Britton was arrested September 21 after his “Let’s kill the president. F.E.A.R.” tweet caught the attention of the U.S.S.S. Internet Threat Desk in Washington, D.C. He was charged by criminal complaint for threatening the president.
So a warning visit from the Secret Service didn’t do it for him, huh? Wow.
You really need to watch this video for the full effect though. He tweeted many, MANY times – and he posted on Facebook too. Also, be sure to watch this video till the end to see how his neighbors have his back:
