Blackberry users, rejoice: the official Twitter for Blackberry app has been updated. Version 1.1 has been released, and will be in the Blackberry App Store within the next 24 hours for all your downloading pleasure.
After six weeks of testing, Twitter for Blackberry v1.1 is now ready for your smartphone. Some of the new features include:
- Push @mentions
- #Topic Autocomplete
- Retweet Updates
- Additional language support
Location is a big deal to anyone who actually uses this feature when they tweet – otherwise it won’t affect your Twitter experience. However if you’re interested, this new feature allows you to pinpoint your location down to the neighborhood within each tweet. To enable this feature, navigate to the “Options” menus within the menu, and select “Add Location to Tweet”.
Once enabled, you can choose whether to add a location to each of your tweets by clicking the compass icon beneath the tweet box. This will pinpoint your location and attach this data to your tweet. And if you want to view others’ locations (assuming they’ve enabled this feature themselves), you just click the location icon beneath their tweet and a map will appear.
You’ll also notice the Twitter for Blackberry has gotten a facelift, and its overall graphics and layout are now more streamlined.
And, when you retweet something, it will appear in your timeline as “retweeted by you” so that you can be sure it was successfully retweeted.
Finally, Twitter for Blackberry now includes support for the following languages:
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
- For Better Trending Topics, Try Current.ly
- CtrlTwit Lets You Control Apps Like Pocket, MeetUp, Instagram Through Your Tweets
- Twitter For Mac Now Features Expandable Timelines, Explorable Tweets, Slicker Design
- New "LeadSift Fingerprint" Tool Uncovers Detailed Insights About Any Twitter User
