For a couple of years now, Twitter’s most-followed user list has been dominated by female pop singers. Six of the top ten Twitter users – Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and Shakira – fit within that category, and if you include Justin Bieber (at #2) and Nicki Minaj (at #11), eight of Twitter’s top eleven most-followed personalities are pop stars, each of whom has tens of millions of followers.
But who do they follow on Twitter?
Be still, your beating heart, because we have the answer, courtesy of this infographic from ticketing website ClickItTicket, which takes a look at Twitter’s six top pop stars and finds out which celebrities they follow, finds out who has the most followers in common, and asks why three of Twitter’s brightest luminaries appear to be following somebody that no-one has ever heard of.
Of note – Eminem follows nobody on Twitter, you’re most likely to engage with Justin Bieber and be followed by Britney Spears than anyone else in this list, and the only person that
uber-douche music megastar Kanye West follows is his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian. So, look for him to be back to zero followers before the end of the year.
