Amazon Plans Kindle Stores in Spain & Italy

I picked up a new follower on my Twitter account today by the name of @KindleRecruiter. As you can probably guess, this is a recruiter for Amazon (who is based in Amazon’s Luxembourg offices). We exchanged a few tweets and the recruiter pointed me at the job positions Amazon has open in Europe. Just the ones related to the Kindle add up to a pretty little list.

Amazon has job openings for Senior Vendor Manager, Kindle for both Spain and Italy.  While it’s not clear that these will be stand alone Kindle Stores, we do know that Amazon holds both Amazon.it (it’s live) and Amazon.sp websites.We also know that there has been talk of a stand alone German Kindle Store, and we even got a brief look at it.

There hasn’t even been any speculation on this; at least, none that I can find. It looks like Amazon has managed to start staffing the teams for these new eBookstores without anyone noticing.

There’s no word on when the new eBookstores will open, but if the state of the German Kindle Store is a sign, I don’t think it will happen soon.
