CNET reports: “There are more rumors fluttering around Seattle that at some point, likely the holiday season of 2011, Amazon will start giving away its Kindle e-book reader for free, likely to select (as in Prime) members. And as the e-book market expands, the possibility is looking more and more likely.”
Giving away Kindles to its biggest users would be an excellent way to help eBook sales and would give Amazon all kinds of marketing potential for pushing eBooks through bundles. Amazon already sells Kindles for only $139, and doesn’t make as much on the devices as they do on eBooks themselves.
Do you think it is worth it for Amazon to do this?
