Amazon announced today that it will soon be publishing the entire backlist for Ed McBain, a very popular mystery author. This will consist of 47 titles, some of which are currently out of print, that Ed McBain wrote between 1956 and 2005. The books will be published by Amazon’s new Thomas & mercer imprint, and they’ll be available on the Kindle as well as in print.
“McBain is a master of the mystery genre and we are thrilled to be able to repackage, publish and promote his unrivaled body of work,” said Philip Patrick, Head of Rights & Licensing, Amazon Publishing. “One of the things we think Amazon Publishing can do is offer signature authors a new life for great backlist titles.”
Ed McBain was a pseudonym for Evan Hunter, who died in 2005. He was born Salvatore Lombino in 1926, and legally changed his name in 1952. He wrote under a number of pseudonyms, but Ed mbain was the most successful.
