Amazon Reportedly Ups Kindle Fire Production Order To 5 Million This Year
Amazon does not seem deterred by Barnes & Noble’s new Nook Tablet. In fact, the company is upping the orders for the number of Kindle Fire devices that they are producing this year.
DigiTimes has the story: “Amazon has recently increased its Kindle Fire orders to more than five million units before the end of 2011 as pre-orders for the machine remain strong, according to sources from upstream component suppliers. Amazon already raised its order volume once in the middle of the third quarter, up from 3.5 million units originally to four million units.” (Via AppleInsider).
While Amazon does not make much money on these devices (some analysts even speculate that they may lose a bit), the more Kindle Fires they sell, the better positioned they are to profit from selling digital content through the Kindle Store.
