Rovio released the Angry Birds spin off Bad Piggies today, and as much fun as that game is to play I have something even better to show you. How would you like to play an augmented reality version of the game?

As you can see in the video, the new app uses augmented reality to make it look like you’re playing a 3D version of the game. The only thing really there is the piece of paper you see at the beginning of the video. All the other imagery is only visible on the iPad’s screen.

VentureBeat caught up with PendAR, a small company which specializes in augmented reality tech. They put together this demo to show off their skills (and because it looked cool). This was an unlicensed project, so it’s not likely that we will ever see this on the market.

But don’t you wish Rovio would release this version of Angry Birds? I’d get it in a heart beat.
