It looks like Microsoft’s much maligned mobile OS is about to get a little avian love. Nokia and Angry birds developer Rovio announced today that the Nokia Lumia, their line of smartphones running Windows Phone 7, will be getting a number of apps in the next few months.
In addition to useful apps like ESPN, Groupon, and Paypal, the Lumia is also going to be getting Angry Birds Space. Rovio is building a dedicated design and development team to create games for Nokia Lumia smartphones and the wider Windows Phone ecosystem. “Nokia is one of our longest-standing partners, and Windows Phone and Lumia are of strategic importance to Rovio. We are very committed to bring our games to Lumia devices, and are looking forward to delighting our fans on the Windows Phone platform,” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio.
