Organizers updated the Times Square Ball app for 2014 — and iOS 7 — but you can still watch the live, nearly seven-hour New Year’s Eve countdown from New York City for free and without the commercials.
The redesigned app also includes a new Twitter integration that shows related New Year’s Eve tweets. It’s a pretty simple little app, but if you’re looking for a way to watch the Times Square action on your mobile, you can find it here.
It was produced by the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment. The app, which first launched in 2010, has 500,000 downloads across more than 160 countries, according to the organizations. It includes an option to customize your timezone for the countdown clock under the settings.
The app is available for iOS and Android.
A second app, Times Square Crossroads, offers discounts from area retailers. It will also play the live stream of New Year’s Eve.
