The Korea Economic Daily reported today that Amazon and Samsung are about to sign a deal worth approximately $8.7 billion. Samsung will supply Apple with liquid crystal displays, mobile application processors and NAND flash memory chips used for the iPhones and iPads.
Samsung also makes tablets and smartphones, which means a direct competitor is now its biggest customer.
