Apple, SBB Agree to License iConic Clock Design for iOS 6

When Apple release iOS 6 to the public a few weeks ago everyone quickly noticed and marveled over the beautiful new clock face used in the clock app. Everyone loved it, including the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB), which owned the rights to the design.

AppNewser reported a few weeks ago how  Apple copied the design without permission. Today Apple and the SBB have announced that they’ve signed a license agreement.

The terms of the license have not been disclosed, but it sound like the SBB is pleased to have settled the matter. The SBB holds the trademark for the emblematic clock, which was designed by Zurich-born engineer Hans Hilfiker in 1944. In addition to Apple the trademark has been licensed it to the Mondaine Group, a clock maker which has been making clocks and wristwatches for consumers based on the design.
