CraftyPod Project Puts Bookbinding Craft Into eBook Gift

Want to give an eBook for a holiday gift, but think they lack a personal touch? CraftyPod.com has a great solution for this. Buy the eBook, but print it out, bind it and voila, you have a crafty gift. (You can always include share the digital file too).

All you need is a printed out eBook, binder clips, needle and buttonhole thread, awl, cork trivet and tacky glue.

And it sounds pretty easy. Here is more from the blog: “If  I were a precise, traditional book binder, I would tell you to make an evenly-spaced row of marks along this guide line, between those top and bottom marks. But instead, I tell you to eyeball it. Make a series of marks that more or less divides the area between the top and bottom marks up into equal parts. You should have an even number of these marks when you’re done.”

Time Magazine released its Top 10 book lists for 2010 and the good news for eBook fans is that ninety percent of the titles have an eBook edition.

The only picks that didn’t have an eBook edition were fiction titles Lord of Misrule by Jaimy Gordon published by McPherson and Wilson by Daniel Clowes which is published by Drawn and Quarterly. Hopefully these rankings and Gordon’s success at The National Book Awards will encourage the publishers to make digital copies available. Read more

Best eBooks of 2010

What’s the best eBook you’ve read this year? Share it in the comments and we’ll add it to our directory of the Best eBooks of 2010.

We love reading “Best Books of …” lists, but we want to build a list focused exclusively on eBooks. Feel free to include both eBooks or books you read as apps–and it doesn’t matter if the book has a print edition or not.

Make sure to specify what kind of eBook you read (Kindle edition, ePub, iBookstore, etc.). Using your suggestions, we will create a giant eBook directory (or mixtape, if you will) linking directly to the eBooks for sampling or buying. (Photo via Kumar McMillan)
