E-ink Rated Most Viable Screen Tech in Recent Study

It looks like E-ink isn’t just my favorite screen tech company.

Lux Research, an investment advisory firm, recently rated the leading screen technology companies. Based a criterion of age, business acumen, Lux plotted 20 companies on the chart at right. Now, the chart is intended to show which companies would make the best potential partner, but it also isĀ  prediction of which companies re most likely to get their screen on to a new product on the market.

The chart is fairly simple to understand; companies above and to the right are predicted to do better than companies below and to the left. And as you can see, E-ink has a large lead.

Scientists at UC Riverside Have Developed New Screen Technology

A team of scientists at the University of California-Riverside announced on Monday that they have developed new particle that one day might be developed into a new sunlight friendly screen.

These particles are made from iron oxide and silicon dioxide molecules, and they are formed into microscopic strings, or “nanorods”. These nanorods, when packed into a screen, should one day be usable as an alternative to E-ink and other epaper screens.
