The New York Times has redesigned its Android app and added new features including a new design, the ability to dictate comments using voice,   passive customization of a users’ most visited blogs, an updated widget,  and more intuitive navigation using the action bar.

“Our new action bar is based on native Android design standards that users know and expect,” explained Alexandra Hardiman, director of mobile products at The New York Times. “It’s more visible and present on section fronts and allows users to access our sections easily and intuitively.”

Hardiman explained that The Times is always looking for ways to improve the user experience and functionality of their products.  Our updated app takes advantage of the latest Android design principles and enables our readers to more easily read, watch and even listen to our wealth of content,” she said. “Going forward, the redesign gives us a better platform to introduce new features and tools that improve the app experience.”
