Did Amazon Sign You up for ‘The Kindle Compass’? Check Your Email
I was just reading over at MobileRead that Amazon has launched a new periodical for the Kindle. Guess how everyone found out?
Amazon thought it would be a good idea to sign Kindle owners up for the 2 week trial subscription without asking them. Naturally that upset most customers, because we all know that at the end of the 2 weeks Amazon will charge for the subscription.
But there isn’t anything to be concerned about; according to Amazon The Kindle Compass is completely free, and it’s free even after the trial period ends.
Just to be on the safe side, I’ve just started another trial subscription so I could compare the confirmation emails. When I got the confirmation email for that second subscription, it said that I would eventually be charged $1.99 a month. The email about The Kindle Compass says that the change is $0.00. There really is nothing to worry about.
So what is The Kindle Compass? I’m not sure. It’s not listed in the Kindle Store, but obviously it does exist because a large number of people have complained on Amazon’s forums. I’m still waiting to hear back from Amazon, but it’s my guess that this is a newsletter about the Kindle. it will likely work in much the same way as the Kindle Blog and provide book suggestions and interesting info.
