Digital book distributor OverDrive has a record year last year, as the company expanded its services in retail, OEM, library, and schools in more than 20 countries. In 2010, the company added a record 185,000 eBook, audiobook, music, and video titles wto its catalog.
The company expanded its catalog so broadly by forging new partnerships with publishers including Macmillan, Random House Germany, Random House India, Macmillan Education, Faber Factory, and Carlton Books Ltd. These publishers joined OverDrive’s existing partners, Books on Tape, HarperCollins, Hachette Book Group, Harlequin, Marvel Comics, McGraw-Hill and TOKYOPOP.
Earlier this week, OverDrive launched an iPhone app in which consumers can download library books directly from their local libraries to their phone.
