ESPN ScoreCenter for the iPad Hits 28 Million Downloads

ESPN is your go-to source for sports news and stats, no matter the sport, and that’s part of the reason why their ScoreCenter  iPad app has hit 28,500,000 downloads. This app was launched in 2010 to aggregate the most diverse collection of statistics imaginable, and today it’s getting even better.

Techcrunch is reporting that ESPN has rolled out a major update to the app. The update is designed to improve the app’s speed, utility and personalization. It’s a complete overhaul, and this app is also the first ESPN app to make use of the sports network’s new API program.

Here’s more from the article:

The app’s home screen now mixes curated games and events through users’ favorite teams and chosen alert settings. Swiping to the right on the homescreen allows users to view top video highlights and news, while using its “hamburger” to let fans view full-sport scoreboards along with video and news content from that sport.

Those looking for more specific stats and information can tap on game for detailed views, which in turn enables them to watch live via its other apps (like WatchESPN or GameCast). And it’s all optimized for retina display, which means sharper and higher-res viewing.

You can find the app in iTunes
