First $50 eReader Hits the Market

Buy.com has the original Aluratek Libre on sale right now for $50,after a $20 mail-in rebate.

This is a sturdy little 5″ eReader. It has Flash and a SD card slot but no Wifi or touch screen. And it does support Adobe DRM, so you can buy eBooks from most stores and read them on the Libre. It’s not flashy, but it is reliable, basic, cheap, and sturdy.

Even as limited as it is, this is a piece of hard ware I liked. I had my hands on the Jetbook, which runs different software on the same hardware (the Libre has the better software).
