Gmail Updated to Play Nicer With 7″ Tablets

My favorite email app for Android got an update today. Google’s not saying much about the changes, but the change log does indicate that the app now has improved support for the Nexus 7 and other new tablets. I cannot see a difference so I’ll take Google’s word for it.

This update also brings a number of under the hood changes, including bug fixes, performance improvements, and a new API for developers. That last means little to the average user but for developers it’s like Christmas in August.

Sadly, the app still doesn’t have the one feature that I’ve been wanting for a while now: pinch-to-zoom.  Why oh why Google did you add it to the stock browser but not your own app? Come on, Google. I’m waiting.

You can find the Gmail app in Google Play.
