Google Maps Is Coming Back To The App Store: Report

Good news for iOS 6 users, Google Maps is reportedly coming back to iPhones soon.

The Wall Street Journal has the story: “Google has distributed a test version of its new mapping app that will work on Apple’s iPhones to some individuals outside the company, said a person with direct knowledge of the matter. Google has been putting the finishing touches on the app before submitting it for approval to the Apple iTunes store, this person said, though it’s unclear exactly when that will happen.”

When Apple released its iOS 6 update and the iPhone 5, the company introduced Apple Maps and kicked Google Maps out of the App Store. Consumers have been less than happy with Apple Maps, prompting Apple CEO Time Cook to publicly apologize for the app. Japanese developer Katsumi Kishikawa even created an app that lets you run Google Maps on iOS 6 devices.
