HarperCollins Saw 100 Thousand eBook Downloads on Christmas Day

It looks like everyone had a record number of eBook downloads on Christmas day. HarperCollins reported yesterday that their servers are just beginning to recover from the many new customers who downloaded eBooks this weekend.

Over 100,000 eBooks published by HarperCollins UK were downloaded on that single day. This was both a record high as well as overĀ  times as high as the average daily downloads during December 2011.

This figure excludes the US market, but it includes downloads for the UK, New Zealand, and other markets around the world. The most popular titles downloaded were George R R Martin’s Game of Thrones, Sanctus by Simon Toyne, Confessions of a GP by Dr Benjamin Daniels, and Twelve Days of Christmas by romantic comedy novelist Trisha Ashley.
