Honda To Open HondaLink, App Controlled

Honda is making its Accord cars more connected with the introduction of a new connectivity platform called HondaLink that will let drivers create a personalized media experience using an app controlled cloud-based platform. The platform will be available this fall in all 2013 Honda Accords.

The New York Times has more: “Like systems offered by nearly every major automaker, the more robust HondaLink relies on owners’ Android and iPhone handsets to feed information from the Web to an in-dash display. Honda said drivers would be able to stream Internet radio stations, download audiobooks, view aggregated ratings for nearby restaurants and have Facebook feeds read aloud.”

Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda, explained the idea in this statement: “HondaLink will enable customers to put away their phone and still stay connected to the people, music and media they love. By creating an intuitive and customizable user interface, HondaLink allows drivers to access digital content as easily as choosing a radio station.”
