Illinois Considering Banning Drivers From Wearing Google Glass

googleglass304As with most new technology, legislation eventually will try to control how and where you can use it. Google Glass is no exception. The device has been facing prohibition in restaurants, and now law makers are trying to prevent drivers from using the smart glasses when driving.

In Illinois, Senator Ira Silverstein filed legislation barring motorists from using the device while driving, citing the potential distraction from perpetual connectivity. The Chicago Democrat said that driver’s “attention to the road should not be interrupted.”

Others states including Delaware, New Jersey, and West Virginia are all considering the same measure, but one state, California, one driver has already accumulated a speeding citation while wearing Glass. The driver said she wasn’t using the device, but admitted that it was on her face when she was speeding. No Matter, her speeding ticket also included a citation for being distracted while watching a screen.
