It looks like being acquired by Facebook was not a bad thing for Instagram. The company announced over the weekend that they now have 150 million users, 50 million of which joined in the last six months.
Interestingly, more than 60% of users are outside of the United States. Here is more from the Instagram blog:

The company recently made its first acquisition. Last month, Instagram purchased Luma, an app that offers video editing tools including color correction and image stabilization.
