Everyone had pretty much assumed that the new iPhone was coming this fall; that’s generally the time of year when Apple launches them. But it wasn’t until today that we had a launch date rumor to throw around. According to one French Apple fanblog, Chinese case makers have been getting orders for cases for the new iPhone.
They reportedly have the complete external specs, and they even have the launch date for the new iPhone. If this rumor comes true, we could be seeing Tim Cook pitching the iPhone 5, with the longer 4″ screen, on the 21st of September.
But is it true? I tend to think so; these kind of juicy rumors are simply too good to keep to yourself, so the source at the Chinese case maker probably felt an overwhelming itch to share. But I’m also not sure that it matters. The new iPhone is almost certainly coming this fall, and the specific date it launches isn’t really that important.
